The closing fashion show on night was PPQ, packed with young fashion wanabees and a random smorgasbord of ‘celebs’. This season their FROW included Paloma Faith, Jamelia, Amber Rose, Jodie Harsh, Brigitte Nielson, and curiously Radio 1 DJ Reggie Yates! Pixie and Peaches Geldof, who are always usually present and sometimes even walk, were nowhere to be seen though, and the catwalk was a model-only zone this season.
As well as a bizarre FROW, PPQ are also becoming known for the scrums to get into their shows and parties, and Friday didn’t disappoint. Some guests were made to queue for over an hour, just to discover there was only standing room left in the tent, which meant that by the time the show started (an hour after scheduled) there were more than a few miserable, fed-up faces in the audience.
True to form the collection was young, bright, and exceedingly wearable, if a little formulaic and predictable. The collection, called ‘Hassan’, had a predominantly North African feel – with bright silks, and even Fez hats (which we’re not sure will catch on in a big way)! Towards the end it suddenly shifted into white and blue French Riviera style pieces, which was slightly odd, and a bit of a shame, as we were hoping for some extravagant SATC2 style Arabian closing dresses. A bright multi-coloured 80′s-esque print made frequent appearances throughout the show, and paired with the design cemented PPQ’s reputation for vintage inspired design.
